4. Rashid Nezhmetdinov (1912 - 1974)

Many of the chess players in today's world won't even know the name. The reason is he wasn't even a grand master (all other players in our list were world champions), but don't get fooled by just that. Its only because this crazy genius didn't do anthing but attack and that doesn't win a lot of games for you. The Tatar Nezhmetdinov was not among the very best players in the world. In fact, he was only an International Master. But in tactical complications, he could compete with the best of them. Mikhail Tal, who was one of his fans, lost three of the four games they played, at the height of his career.
